Monkey Hockey is a Party Game in Super Monkey Ball: Touch & Roll.
Modes[]
The game features two modes - Line Smasher and Classic.
Classic[]
In classic mode, the opponent is on the top screen and the player controls the paddle on the bottom screen by dragging it with the stylus. The game simulates air hockey, with the goal being to score a set amount of points (the default being 10), by knocking the puck into the other player's goal. There are also items on either side of the goal which give various benefits. These include growing the player or ally's paddle, shrinking one of the opponents' paddle, adding another puck to the table temporarily, growing the opponent's goal or shrinking the player's goal. If a puck becomes too small or a goal too wide, the effects of that powerup will only last until a goal is scored. When one player scores a determined amount of wins, the game ends.
Line Smasher[]
Like Classic mode, the goal of Line Smasher is to score a set amount of points by knocking the puck into the player's goal. However, the key difference is that the player and opponent draw their own paddles. As a round goes on longer, parts of the paddles will flake off and the player/opponent will need to redraw it while the puck is on the other side of the table. How large the paddle can be is determined by how much material is in the player/opponent's inventory. And instead of changing the size of the paddles, 2 of the items now change whether a subject gains or looses material. However, there is a minimum amount that each player must start a round with. As with Classic mode, when one player scores a determined amount of wins, the game ends.
DS Download Play[]
Monkey Hockey is one of the 3 options available when using DS Download Play and supports up to 4 players. When playing using DS Download Play, the game is locked to Classic mode with 4 players, even if some of them are substituted with computers. The winning point number is set to 5, and 2 wins are required for victory.
